dear elena, first af all thanks for your corrections!
it was very clear for me everything you said
luckily i'm not at school! otherwise i should be failed! [I found some result on Google with 'be failed', but I don't know this use of the verb. If you meant to say that if you had been at school you'd have failed a test, for example, I think you might just say: otherwise I'd have failed, where the 'd is for would, not should]

about subtitles: when there are, i get confused; i cant's understand neither dialogues or subtitle! [after 'there are' I'dd add what there is (when there are some, for example) because in English --unlike what we do in Italian-- you almost always have to use subjects and objects. Then there's a typo, I'm sure you know it's can't, not cant's. As for the other part I underlined, I think I'd use the article, and since you used a negative form you should say: either the dialogues or the subtitles (when you affirm, instead, it's neither ... nor ...)]

today i'm ill (during this week end i've got a virus, a gastric intestinal flu). [I don't know why, but I'd say 'I caught a virus', instead of i've got, but it could be just me. I think this two threads on the subject may be interesting: I've got flu and I got a cold. Also, I'd say during the week-end]

so see you tomorrow..

Oh, sorry you don't feel well, I bet it's no fun.. :( Wishing you to recover soon!!! :)

Sorry for the late reply... I've been busy with my very last exam.
Sure, elena, points of view may change during time. Anyways, I'll consider your opinion and many thanks for your advice! I already knew that website but I have never thought joining the forum... but now I really think I will.

Cheers, :eek:k07:
S.M.

No problem, S.M, and good luck for your last exam! :)

What kind of language is this?????????

At first I wondered the same.. But, maybe, it's 'figth the power':eek:k07:

:Saluto: to you all!

Elena,in Holland we don't celebrate our name day because it's a catholic celebration, and most of the people are protestant and they don't have saints....

Well, in my family when I was a kid that was simply a chance to celebrate one more time, during the year, with no mention of the catholic side of it. And, as I told you, I do like names, Japanese people say that they are the first gift we receive from our parents, and other cultures say that their sound is healing, others that in their meaning there's what is important for us to remember, in our lives... So, I'll keep wishing people happy name day, after all :)

When my daughter was born in 1980(I didn't know it was a girl)my first thought was:Natalie....I was so happy that I could give her that name, because till the last moment I wasn't sure about a male-name.

Good night everybody.....have sweet dreams!!!!

Nice :) It happened the same to my bro and sister-in-law: I remember the're was only one name they both liked, Alessandro, and were not able to find one in case the baby was a girl. And, well, I did 'get' a nephew and not a niece ;)

BLACK AND WHITE!!!!

Oh, thanks for posting, both Lucky and the picture are beautiful!!

But....Harma, what are you doing here?! Haven't you see what they wrote HERE, yet? Go check it out!
(Btw, compliments!!!!!!!!! I did like it a lot :D)

edit: or should I have said 'congratulations'? who knows... what I know is that the other day I wrote 'be sure to...' and that is wrong, the correct expression is: 'make sure to...'

Hi... here's snowing ... good evening everybody!

Snow
by Phillip Hagerman

The great, white, wonderful,
Brand new fallen snow,
Covers the ground in blissful white.
Only it's calm blanket,
Whispers on the wind,
Quietly hoping things will die.

Daring to temp the icy fate,
Your life hangs in the balance:
Cold tendrils grip your heart,
And icy breath is on your face.
With frozen eyes you only hear,
The icy screams of melting snow.

hallo darma,

oh yes, i'm a woman. i'm not either young or old; 'i'm just a middle age!
why did you think i was a man?? i'm curious to know why....if you want to tell me.

your dog Lucky is really... lucky! i know it's hard to have dogs and cats if you have a garden... but if you love them both you'll find a solution.

here it's -1° (-4 in the night) and there is a high wind.

bye see you soon - have a fantastic afternoon!

I know I have a difficult name, people call in many ways, but nobody ever called me Darma:) I thought you were a man because of Belvedere. In Italian you say UN Belvedere and not Una.I like this forum very much, but I would like a little bit more about the people. For example the age ,man or woman, if they have a family,if they work or study.Just to have a little immagine.....Like when you read a book, you immagine the whole story.I suppose that a lot of people want to be remain incognito. And that's okay ofcourse...I will tell you something about myself.I am a woman(Dutch) 60years old,two children and two beautiful grandchildren.I am still working like a social care-giver.......

It's very cold here too, this morning-6. I am so afraid for all my plants,I don't have plants in a pot, they are all in the ground, and Lucky is walking around everywhere:sgrunt: bye bye.....

sorry harma, i know your name but i wrote it wrong!
even i would like to know more about some forum users, many of them prefer to be unknown.
i'm not married, but my "boyfriend" live with me since 22 years. so i think he's more & better than a husband!
we have the same age and we have no sons.
i'm employed as secretary. my boyfriend is a welfare worker: he works for a private organisation against drug abuse.
who is a social care-giver? is she/he like an "assistente sociale" or an "operatore sociale"?
my plants are all in pots, because I've a roof garden (it's on seventh floor with high wind), i hope they survive to this cold weather.

bye bye harma:Saluto:

Hi Harma, hi Belvedere, hi Elena... Hi to all of you :ros:

Hi from me too!! :) How are you doing? Luca, did you go to school this week or was it closed 'cause of the snow? Here it's freezing cold and there's been a very strong wind, but no snow yet. I sincerely hope that it gets milder soon!!

Elena my sister told me that in America people use the expression omg for a lot of things....facebook is full of it..and I didn't know the translation of lol was: laughing out loud...I am really happy with the 4th place of the competition of the home-plants. bye bye...

Hello Harma :)
Yes, all those acronyms are quite popular on social networks. And, true, many Americans say "Oh my gosh/God!", so you'll see also that OMG pretty often, in their writings.
As for the competition you won, it was also nice to hear the stories behind some of your plants, like the one about yours, glad you managed to bring it with you in Italy, I like it very much!

I know I have a difficult name, people call me in many ways, but nobody had ever called me Darma:)

By the way, I was just wondering: how do you pronounce Harma? I mean, the first 'A' sounds more as an Italian 'A' or 'E'?

Here you can find something out about some of us: what we look like, and what we do :) (this last one is not that recent, but perhaps you might re-vive it!)

Lucky is a very lucky dog, since not only did your son find him, but also because you are not that strict with him. Although, yes, poor plants!

First hallo to everybody!

Elena: luckily today i'm well. i'm recovering .... and now my husband is ill!! it's really incredible!

You guys took turns! Well, I do hope that by now both of you fully recovered :)

Wishing a nice weekend to you all :Saluto:
