There should be a thread where they explain how to do it and perhaps it's clearer than what I could say... (I saw it is in 'Regolamento e istruzioni d'uso => inserimento immagini)

However, at the beginning I used to add them directly from the computer using the little icon with sort of a painting with a tree. Then I began to upload them on a website and so now I use it adding the tags "IMG" and "/IMG" into square brackets at the beginning and end of the address of the picture or just the 'url' the webiste gives for it.

There are a few of these websites to store pictures online, I don't know which one works better. Perhaps you might ask to Elebar or other mods.

Ok, thanks. I'll have a go when I get home next week.
There doesn't seem to be much conversation going on at the moment, does there? This morning I went for a walk to a DIY place, they sell things for the house and garden. I saw some lovely plants, but they were too big to bring home in a suitcase. I found a nice little purple leaved Lamium which will fit nicely in my case though. It's very strange here because it isn't raining! In fact there's a drought already!

Ehi,did you break rules?!
we couldn't speak English!!!But it's so cool!!!:D
:tupitupi::tupitupi::tupitupi::tupitupi::tupitupi::tupitupi:

Luca created this thread just as a chance to practice our English, I think that being something helpful for the community here, and open to anyone who wants to join, it got an okay. As you'll have noticed, we don't post only in English in other threads on the forum.
In any case... Welcome also here! :D

@Melissa, the other day I saw your post on the 'Happy Father's Day' thread. Loved it, and I much agree with you.
In the States, don't they celebrate it on a different time of the year? I have this memory but can't recall when it is...

@jp... seeds could be something easy to bring back ;)

Elena,
Thanks! As I wrote, I've been fortunate in the men in my life. In general, there are a lot of guys out there who are really trying hard, and sometimes I think they are underappreciated. You're correct: in the U.S. Father's Day is the third Sunday in June, but I must admit I had to look it up--I had thought it was the second Sunday, but wasn't sure.
I've been wondering: what doesn "namaste" mean?

Hi Melissa!

As already said, I just agree, men (okay, most of them) do deserve our appreciation :)

As for the 'namaste', I had already talked a 'lil about it with Harma, here: http://forum.giardinaggio.it/parliamo-tutto-po/144250-english-conversation-21.html#post1939530

It's an ancient Indian way to greet, with Sanskrit roots, whose meaning is (more or less): "The Divine in me recognizes and honors the Divine in you" (but there are many many other variations of the same concept, you can read some of them here). When in person, people also put their hands together in front of the heart and bow their heads (which is also an ancient gesture -they are called mudras- which is, again, about being all one).

In spite of the fact that it comes from India, it's worldwide known nowadays due to the popularity of yoga.

I like it because it's actually nondenominational and also because it expresses what I believe to be a deep truth in a simple and gentle way :) (and it helps me remind it!)

I lost a lot....There is always an e-mail to remember me new messages, but i didn't riceive anything....What kind of way you use to know if there are new messages??

Hi Devu,welcome in this tread....

Hi Harma :)

When I subscribed to the forum, I also used to receive an email that alerted me about new messages, but then it stopped. I might have changed some option, but since now I prefer just checking out what's new instead of having my email box full of alerts, I haven't searched for the reason.

Then, what I do now is just looking through the main pages of the sections I'm interested in to see if among the threads in bold (which are those I haven't read yet) there's anything that catches my attention.

Sometimes, I also subscribe to some specific thread that I want to follow, just in order to avoid to miss a reply (for example, when I post a thread asking for help with plants). In those case, I check the control panel because it's there where I get an alert.

No, sorry, I don't.

If you want; or if, as in the case of Luca, who's a student, I see a particularly striking error. God knows it's hard enough to use a foreign language without being paralyzed by the fear of making mistakes.

Our March is looking alarmingly like May, but the grass is green as an emerald and the roses are leafing out gloriously. The lilacs and wisteria are almost ready to begin blooming, and the plums, cherries and pears are in flower, the pears just since yesterday. Forsythia and Japanese quince in full bloom too, and other things as well but the list is getting too long.
I have hyacinths growing close to the house in one small bed that I lined with metal sheeting to keep the mice out. I had to dig a trench and cut and bury the sheeting, which was tiresome, but the hyacinths have been there for years now, returning and blooming every spring. I found out to my delight that hyacinths seed themselves! I know this because I have one that's pale pink, a color I never planted, and because there are now hyacinths growing outside the bed where I originally planted them. Most of the seedlings are blue-to-violet. They're extremely fragrant. Also the chionodoxas are in bloom now: they too seed themselves about in a charming fashion; the Anemone blanda as well.

Same for me here, Harma.. I'm taking a lot of pictures instead of working in the garden, these days ;)

Melissa, it's funny you mentioned just the Japanese quince, since that day I had just posted in a thread about those plants trying to figure out what's the name commonly used for them in Italy (there're a few). What color is yours? Mine is red.

pirus11.jpg

I knew about the propagation of hyacinths because my grandparents had planted them many years ago and since then they multiplied. For the most they are pink, but I have also a few purple ones. Today I was just thinking of planting some white ones, next year, among them, I think it would make a nice match :) True that they are extremely fragrant! I like it when I walk by, but I'd probably get an headache if I had them in the house...
I didn't know the chionodoxas, I like them: is it a bulb, too? And do they smell like the hyacinths?

Josephine... what did you come with, in the end?
:D
