tecnica anti-erbacce???

ciao amici forumisti,
leggevo su un libro dedicato appunto alla realizzazione,cura e manutenzione del prato, realizzato da un esperto inglese, che per eliminare le infestanti dal prato ed erbacce varie si puo' usare la...sabbia???:confuso:
la tecnica consiste nello spargere sopra il prato alcuni cm di sabbia da fiume e lasciarla agire finche le piogge la lavano via; secondo l'esperto (documentato da foto) la tecnica funziona molto bene perche' toglie luce e aria alle erbacce e inoltre e' un rimedio naturale e non molto costoso come l'utilizzo specifico dei diserbanti appositi.
Voi cosa ne pensate? ne avete mai sentito parlare? io sarei quasi quasi tentato di provarci dato che il prato lo devo rifare pero' magari ci sono controindicazioni.
Avrei piacere di sentire le vostre opinioni al riguardo.

Non avevo mai sentito parlare di questa tecnica.
Ma la sabbia non toglie luce e aria anche all'erba buona?
O forse si deve mettere una quantità di sabbia che lasci fuoriuscire i fili dell'erba, ma non le erbacce.:confuso:

La sabbiatura è una tecnica per migliorare la struttura di un terreno argilloso e si usa anche nelle trasemine perchè mantnendo scaldando il semee mantenedolo umido con la sua copertura permette una maggior gemrinazione. Non so che cosa c'era scritto su quel manuale lo puoi trascrivere se non è troppo lungo?

the modern selective weedkillers have become extremely popular and old-fashioned lawn sand is now often ignored in the weedkiller programme. It is true that hte active ingredient (ferrous sulphate) can scorch fine grasses when carelessly applied and it only kills the top growth and not the roots. But a wide variety of wedds,including moss, are kept in check.
there is also the bonus from its other ingredient (ammonium sulphate), which gives the lawn a rich green colour and helps maintain the acidic condition which is so vital.
HOW TO USE IT
-sunny morning with the prospect of fine weather
-grass moist with dew
-soil must be moist at time of treatment; do not use during drought
-even application by hand or applicator is vital
-do not overdose but the lawn can be treated several times during the season

AFTER USING LAWN SAND
-immediately following treatment :do not mow or walk until rain has fallen or until it has been watered
- 2days later: thouroughly water the lawn if rain has not fallen since application
-3weeks later: rake up dead undergrowth. if clumps of weeds are still present use a selective weedkiller or apply a further dressing of lawn sand"

Ma perché non usi semplicemente il diserbante ad assorbimento fogliare che usano anche in campagna nei frutteti.... E' abbastanza ecologico e costa pochissimo (sicuramente meno di 2 cm di sabbia!!!!!)

hai ragione, appena ho un attimo lo traduco (sono bilingue) e scrivo il tutto sul thread ok?
al momento sono impegnato a sistemare il giardino per l'inverno e con un progetto molto ambizioso e difficile!
